The last project for Jewelry 2 this semester, it was hollow-forming. It had to be a wearable, but also we had to be inspired by and artist or an art movement older than our birthday. With this project, I decided to do something that was very different from anything I've ever done. Some of the things I looked to were Renaissance, Rococo, and Impressionism. But in the end, I went with architecture. The architecture period of early 1900's. I chose this because it was contemporary. The more contemporary things are a bit simple, geometrical and very aesthetic and design based.
I have done hollow forming before, but not like this. I decided to make a ring thats completely geometrical even the ringhole. Also, I want to keep it clean with no texture or anything, but I know if I do that, my craftsmanship has to be dead on. I want to go back to some of the traditional methods, I am obviously cutting it out with a saw but I want to dap on a steel block to get the oval shape that I want
Overall, I am happy. But I wish I set the ball a little better. That's about it. And maybe a little clean up in tight spot
And here is the RESULT:
